Overview
The 2024 updated Comprehensive Plan is complete! Thank you to our Board of Supervisors, Task Force members, Brandywine Conservancy staff, and community! The initiative updated Penn Township’s 2012 Comprehensive Plan, which is a guidance document that serves as our community’s vision for the future. Comprehensive Plans focus on various topics, including open space preservation, natural and cultural resources, transportation facilities, community services, land use and economic development, renewable energy and others.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC) requires each municipality to update its Comprehensive Plan at least every 10 years and sets specific standards for its content and the process of its development and adoption. Besides being at that 10-year mark, the current 2012 Plan does not fully address the recent updates identified in Chester County’s Comprehensive Plan, Landscapes 3. This new plan reflects changes in demographics, land use patterns, economic growth and focuses on the existing community’s needs and addresses any inconsistencies with Landscapes 3.

The planning process launched in May 2022 and was officially adopted on May 7, 2024. The updates to the 2024 Comprehensive Plan were made possible with grant funding assistance from the Chester County Vision Partnership Program (VPP).
