A Word From Our Building Inspector/Zoning Officer
Penn Township is in the process of adding our permit and zoning information to our website. Until that time, all forms can be picked up at the Township, or they can be e-mailed to you. Below are some frequently asked questions.
What do I need a permit for?
The following is a general list of things that require a permit:
- additions
- any structural change to a building
- deck
- demolition of a structure NOTE: Effective 7/1/09 Anyone working in
- electrical work Township must provide a copy of their
- finished basements PA Contractors License to the Township
- home occupation prior to starting work.
- plumbing work
- pools - 24" or pools - 24" or higher
- shed
- signs
Can I fax in my permit application?
No. Permits cannot be faxed due to the fact that often times they are not readable. You can email your information to codes@penntownship.us, drop your permit off during regular office hours (M-Th 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), or mail in your permit to 260 Lewis Road, West Grove, PA 19390.
How long does the permit process take?
Once the permit application is received by our office, it takes 15 working days to be approved or denied.
I need a fence around my pool?
A fence or other barrier is required for all pools 48" in height or less. If the pool wall measurers 48" from grade to the top of the pool wall, a fence is not required.
How can I talk to the building inspector/zoning officer?
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Duane Brady, our Building Inspector/Zoning Officer. He is in Penn Township on Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m. When he is not out doing inspections and making Penn Township a better place, he can be reached at 610.468.2476.
